Greetings From Another Land

Share

I know it’s been almost five months since I ‘abandoned’ this blog. Abandoned might be too harsh of a word to describe it but that’s besides the whole point of why I’m writing again. And the weirdest thing is that I’m writing this post in the train on my way to Manchester to see my boyfriend and because he’s throwing me my 21st birthday party! Never did I think of reviving my blog this instance; I was thinking more of being a good girl and instead of tossing my precious hour and a half doing nothing but playing Ninjump on my phone or snoozing through the whole journey, I decided to at least complete my assignment that is due this 7th April.

I happily switched on my laptop and just before I attempted to launch Safari, I realized that the train don’t freaking provide free WiFi. How dumb can I get right? Here I was thinking what I was gonna do to look smart as I didn’t want to look dumber than I already am by keeping my laptop away in just minutes of using it. Plus, the lady sitting beside me was obviously staring at my screen.

“Umm.. Hello! Do you know what privacy is?” the voice in my head asked.

Obviously she didn’t. But thankfully, she left at the next stop.

The last five months were like sad songs playing on repeat on the music player and not much of happy songs. Happy songs were mostly played on fast forward. I’m not going to tell you in detailed what precisely happened because it’s beyond crazy. So, let me just sum it up for you. My mum was diagnosed with glaucoma and almost one-eye blind. Weeks later, my uncle met in a horrifying accident and passed away after three weeks of battling to survive, I escaped from a car accident on my way to KL two days after my uncle’s funeral, left for UK to further my education two days later, didn’t make any friends at university until over a month later, visit several places in Britain, visit my boyfriend in Manchester every other week, miss Malaysian food and lifestyle as well as friends and family back home.

Guess what? You didn’t miss much of me.

When I was still in Malaysia, all I did was go back and forth of the hospital everyday and took care of my family.

Now that I’m in a foreign land, I pretty much go to and from university on weekdays, visit my boyfriend every other weekend, visit several cities and I don’t freaking have a social life because most Brits dislike foreign people and prefer sticking to their own kind (read: people who speaks in British accent). Don’t get me wrong though, some of them are really friendly and my life here isn’t as bad as I made it sound like (only the first month though).
