How I Pranked My Boyfriend

Share

It was 8.00pm. and the prime time news was on when my house phone rang. Being me, I hate to pick up the phone when I’m watching the news because that’s when I’d miss the story-- it’s like I know the lead but I don’t know its details. Simply because the phone was on the couch, I couldn’t pretend that I didn’t hear it ringing, so, I answered it. I had two options on how I could answer it: One, pretend that I was somebody else and say I’m not home if the call was for me. Or two, just answer the god damn phone and speak like I’m supposed to.

Me           : Hello.
Caller       : Hello. Can I speak to Vanitha please?
Me           : She’s not at home.
Caller       : Are you sure?
Me           : Yeah. She’s out.
Caller       : Baby, I know it’s you. Quit playing.
Me        : No. Umm.. is this Wei Jin? (imitating the way my sister answers the phone when my boyfriend calls)
Caller       : Yeah.
Me           : Vanitha’s not at home. Why don’t you call her back later?
Caller       : Umm.. Ok. Sure.
Me           : Bye.
Caller       : Bye.

And then he hung up, which I didn’t think he would. He must have really thought it was my sister. I must admit, I do sound a lot like her when I’m on the phone. Pulling a trick like that on my boyfriend was not intended to get rid of him for I wanted to watch the news. Out of instantaneous innocent fun, I felt like pranking him for all the times he didn’t fall for ever since he got fooled the same way. As the Chinese proverb goes, ‘Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.’ Shame on him, unfortunately, as he fell for it this time.

I called him back immediately after that and told him I was going to blog about him being pranked. He pleaded me not to. He didn’t want the whole world to know how foolish he can get sometimes.

But he changed his mind after I asked him, “Why? You don’t want people to know how sporting my boyfriend is? To be able to pull tricks on you and you still can laugh because you think it’s funny?"

"If you don’t want the world to know how awesome and cool of a boyfriend you are, then, alright, I won’t blog about it," I continued.

One moment he pleaded me not to blog about it; the next moment, he pleaded me to. That’s how silly my boyfriend can get and the more fun when I’m able to psycho (Malaysian slang for manipulate) his mind. I love to do that to him simply because his reactions are priceless and he’s the only guy I can do that to and he’ll play along and be cool with it.

That’s my silly and adorable guy.

Haha, it was Chong Yen if you know him, and I was bored at that time. He was just...blurred and speechless. Even after I revealed my identity, he was still dizzy from the sleep. Well at least I interrupted his sleep... XP
