Why The Internet Is My Best Companion
Several days ago, I was punching the keys on my Macbook, penning my thoughts in an attempt to publish the finished writings here. Halfway through it, I thought I should just publish it next month in conjunction with a special occasion. =D
After finishing that yet to be published blog post in less than 30 minutes, I did what I know best - watch videos on Youtube and downloading movies.
One of my favourite websites, IMDb.com got me hooked at looking through its list of highly rated animation films as reference to some of the movie trailers I watched on Youtube. Switching between the two sites constantly, I suddenly found myself watching makeup tutorials by MAC Cosmetics senior artists. Don’t ask me how I ended up watching them because I myself do not have the slightest clue. I’m still in the midst of discovering how I deviated by going through my browser history though.
I must say MAC’s makeup artists are phenomenal - they make putting on makeup looks as easy as wiping them off. I spent hours watching all their tutorials and browsing their website. Oh, it made me want to purchase their products, especially their brushes and mineralized products. Check out this video.
It doesn’t look overdone but effortless and au naturale, doesn't it?
Did I add that that led me to visiting Bobbi Brown’s website as well as Revlon’s? I know Revlon is no where near MAC and Bobbi Brown’s range. Unfortunately, that’s the only makeup I can afford now. Nonetheless, I like that I can find an alternative for MAC and Bobbi Brown from Revlon except their foundation and concealer.
I have this tanned skin which is neither sun-kissed tan nor bronze. It’s like tan without the glow - I call it a faded tan. I hate it that I got fairer in the span of a month not being under the sun as often as I used to as it meant getting new makeup which equates to spending more. I hate to look at myself in the mirror after slapping foundation on my face because it looks like I just got a fake tan from the tanning salon. Revlon and all other similar range brands are doing me no justice by offering limited colour shades as I couldn’t find the right foundation that blends into my skin tone perfectly. Visiting MAC’s and Bobbi Brown’s website and knowing that they have 16 to 20 different shades could help my skin but not my wallet - they’re 3 times more expensive than Revlon! But I’ve never found and worn the perfect shade that matches my skin tone. So what am I to do?
Oh, how I wish to own at least one Bobbi Brown product. It’s my all-time favourite makeup brand because of its warm colours that matches any skin tone, especially mine. Medium to dark skin tone ladies, this is your best bet yet in getting makeup products that work for you.
My sister owns RM1000 worth of Bobbi Brown products thanks to BluInc for choosing her as the winner of some contest in Cleo Magazine last year. God, I envy her and feel like using her makeup without her permission. GAH!
To avoid committing any rash actions, I sought comfort in watching cartoons. Hence, my sudden addiction to them. In just three days, I’ve downloaded and watched eight cartoons: Corpse Bride, Mary and Max, Pocahontas, Ponyo, Spirited Away, The Simpsons Movie, The Bee Movie and The Ant Bully. Of the eight, I loved Mary and Max the most. It’s one clever animation film produced with compelling script and punchy yet humorous lines. Let me just share some of the lines I still remember from watching it:
"Her birthmark the colour of poo."
"She drank his words like a bowl of alphabet soup."
"Do you know that turtles can breathe through their anuses?"
"Babies are laid by Catholic nuns. If you're Atheist, they're laid by dirty lonely prostitutes."
I better not tell you so much as it spoils the fun. Why don’t you watch it and try telling me otherwise.
I even have the download link to share. Enjoy watching! =D
