How Can I Not Love Being With Those Whom I Care

Share

Do you remember how your first birthday was celebrated? Neither do I. We would probably just open our cupboard and dig out those old photos after ten years and still don’t have a clue as to how it was. So, I really don’t get it why parents are willing to spend a fortune on their child’s first birthday if the child can even enjoy it, let alone remember it. Perhaps, I would only understand when I become a parent one day.

Remember my 8-year-old smarty pants niece I mentioned before? Well, her brother who loves to pout when he doesn’t get what he wants celebrated his lavish first birthday at Royal Selangor Club on August 14th.

Lucky for my nephew who has aunts and grandaunt who love him very much, my family and I drove all the way to KL just to celebrate his birthday. Even my boyfriend and his parents attended the birthday party. There were close to 100 guests who were relatives as well as my cousin and her husband’s friends and colleagues.

I don’t even remember my first birthday being celebrated like that. It felt like I was attending a wedding dinner rather than a birthday party as we were all dressed up in matching accessories with our hair and makeup done.

You don’t see me much in those candid moments as I was busy capturing every single bit of it. What can I say? I was asked by my cousin to be the official videographer. =D

All things must come to an end. This birthday party goes without saying. My mum, uncle and sisters needed to leave for Penang the very next day but not me, as I was still on holidays and granted permission by my mum to stay in KL longer. Sweet! I stayed at my cousin’s for several days before I went to my boyfriend’s place, again.

Another week in KL was pure bliss and abuse. More shopping and cravings for mi hun kueh aside, I was literally abused by Wei Jin’s newly purchased Wii on the first day I got there. You think Wii Sports couldn’t work you out like outdoor sports because it involves limited arm exercise? Think again. My days were spent playing Wii and we finished playing Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles together in less than two days! We were bored out of our mind for having finished the game so fast, so, we went to purchase more games. As a Wii beginner, I must say that it’s quite impressive that I was a pro at killing zombies in less than 3 days. I even beat my boyfriend’s scores in House of the Dead: Overkill.

But my entire week wasn’t just devoted to killing zombies. I could watch some brutal ass-kicking movie too. Speaking of which, that was when I bumped into my good friend, Kar Mun and her boyfriend, Aris, at 1 Utama’s GSC ticketing counter. The planned meet up was supposed to be the following day, but fate led us to watching The Expendables together. Though it was not much of a story line, it was still one heck of a movie with all my favourite action heroes together.

After several attempts of wanting to double date, it finally materialized at The Apartment for dinner. It was so good to see Kar Mun and Aris again after like, what, a day? We girls were too busy to entertain the boys during the first half of the dinner and they were left to talk about games and what not.

The couple I love hanging out with

The single funniest thing that happened that night has got to be the black waiter who looked at my boyfriend intriguingly with a half smile on his face and asked him, ‘you sure you don’t want another one?’ upon seeing him absorbed in scooping for the last drop of gravy that was left on his plate. That made us all laughed, even Wei Jin.

Lovin' his new haircut!

Kar Mun was clearly there just for something light, sugary and melts in her mouth instantly. Red Velvet cake was her drug. Only cool people are considered Red Velvet Club members, according to Aris. Shunned, I got myself a slice of the cake and gained immediate lifetime membership. Oh, yeah! Only people who enjoy Red Velvet cake are considered members. If you don’t, then shoo!

The most orgasmic cake I've ever tasted.
For those who can't reach orgasm. Just kidding!

Shisha after dinner was not such a bad idea after all since Wei Jin has never gave it a try. Of course, we only went to the best shisha in town at al-Saffa. You can bet that we went ding-dong (stoned) a little judging by the photos. I had it a little too fast and slightly more than I could take, it made me feel sick after. But what is more relaxing than chilling with friends at mamak’s?

And what better way to end my holidays in KL than to be captivated by the mesmerizing beauty of lights with my other half. Somehow, I regard i-City as a symbol of our undying love for each other as the city is lit up by millions of LED lights that would not allow it to be consumed by darkness. Likewise, you can’t just turn off our LED lights as you please.
